Proarms Podcast, Training Drills......

The latest Podcast from the Proarms crew! Very interesting training or practice drills. I have been doing a lot more weak and strong hand at the Cavalier match recently.... that might turn into an all weak hand match! What do you think? Of the podcast? What are some of your training drills?

I like strong and weak hand shooting. Why not?

I can tell you I know one old guy (not me) who will not come to that match. He hates WHO. As much as I like theme matches, this one would be a kicker. STA

Strong hand/weak hand is always good to practice and I welcome it in an IDPA match as part of a stage. But probably not the whole match....

Anyone have a good idea for how to do an effective shoot until the threat stops drill? I know the shows say to vary your round count but that still means you're making the decision.
If you have someone else there to drill with, they can determine when the threat stops. I'll just not sure how to easily do this. Maybe a line attached to the idpa target stand and the target gets pulled down by the helper.
Or I was thinking a bright light or laser would mark the target as a threat and then when the light/laser was turned off that would be the queue to stop shooting.
Any ideas?

I guess there are a few ways to look at it. I assume you are looking for a visual indicator that the bad guy is no longer a threat. If so keep shooting till you are behind cover. Who says just cause they fall down they are no longer dangerous?

This is why I like the # the heads of the targets ( say 4, 3, 2), turn, draw and engage with that # of rounds.... maybe throw in a 0 or hands for a non-threat. Of course the shooter does not no the way the #'s are put on the heads. This does 2 things, makes you look at the face of the target ( ooppss sorry dear , I did not mean to shoot you!) and it gives you a different round count. You could also add guns and knives to the targets, both the threats and non-threats, to spice it up a litte!
