Black Creek

I'm excited about Black Creek this weekend! As far as I know I will get to shoot it! You going Stuart?

I am committed to something else this saturday and do not plan to be in attendance at the Black Creek Pistol Match (A. Klothe, Officer Commanding). The weather should be warm and pleasant. But, perhaps we could schedule an trip to the RRPC IDPA Match the following saturday if nothing arises?

I really liked the BHP pod cast but the BHP is just not a very good IDPA gun if you consider it carefully. The magazine disconnect issue aside, it is heavy in comparison to a G17 and requires a few mods to make it the tactical equal of the modern polymer service pistols. I (like a few others) are fans because we are old enough to remember when it was the premier high cap 9mm! Sort of like me, it is obsolete.

Since this was last published I spoke to my former uncollege room mate who works for ATK (Federal, Speer & CCI) about the ammo shortage. Anyway, he reminded me that commodity prices (lead, tin, copper) rose like crazy in 2007 and 2008. Then with the fuel thing not only did propellant costs rise a bit but shipping heavy ammo became a consideration.

The unprecedented demand since OCT08 simply caught the manufacturers unable to meet the hoarding now going on. He predicted that it would be at least SEP09 before it stabilized but he expects another rush when the politics push up another AWB.

38 SPL and 9mm are now back on the shelves at nearly 100% more than two years ago. There are limits on purchases. Nothing we can do. He assured me that his company is shipping as fast as they can and making all they can ship.

What do I know?

I always liked the Hi-Power, never owned one. Saw a lot of them at AHF, nice craftsmanship by Browning. Like most single actions it has become a thing of the past.
